General Definition of Work
Performs skilled administrative support work receiving, screening and processing telephone calls and serving as receptionist for department, scheduling appointments, handling complaints, assisting the public, typing a variety of documents, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned departmental supervisor.

Essential Functions
Acts as a receptionist; greets visitors; answers telephone; provides information; forwards calls to appropriate party; assists the public with the completion of standardized records or documents; directs visitors to appropriate party.
Enters a variety of data into computer; verifies statistical and other records for accuracy and completeness; enters and retrieves sensitive and restricted information into computer system.
Types a variety of documents including correspondence, forms, reports, purchase orders, requisitions, meeting minutes, etc. where a knowledge of format and presentation is necessary; answers routine correspondence independently.
Assists in the coordination and preparation of periodic, special and other reports; collects information from a variety of sources and compiles data.
Receives and accounts for various revenues; posts, checks, balances and adjusts accounts; gathers, assembles, tabulates, checks and files financial data; assists with the preparation of payroll.
Processes requests for information and reports.
Prepares and codes purchase orders and invoices; prepares and monitors work order system; keeps cost and inventory records.
Makes schedules; coordinates meetings; makes appointments.
Receives, sorts, processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
Operates a variety of standard office equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices; ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to perform and organize work independently; ability to type dictation at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to supervisor; skill in the operation of personal computer equipment and related office software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in general administrative support, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires standing, walking and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
May require possession of or ability to acquire Notary Public license, completion of Microsoft program courses and records management classes depending on departmental assignment.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Mosquito Sprayer - Seasonal
Salary: $10.50 per hour

A part-time Mosquito driver is needed to work within the Camden County borders. The shifts are four to five hours in the evenings depending on the weather. This position requires a variety of tasks, including: welcoming and greeting visitors, providing local and statewide travel and tourism information, routing people to their destinations, discuss points of interest and attractions, administrative duties, answering phones, and related work as apparent or assigned. Experienced working in Word and Excel to assist in managing inventory. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Visitor Center Director. The Center is open year-round at a minimum of 6 days a week. A minimum of two weekends per month may be required, including some Sundays seasonally and some holidays. This is a part time position and hours may vary according to the busier tourist seasons. Mobility and standing are a requirement to assist with maintaining brochure inventory and working with customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is an entry level social work position. Primary responsibilities will be to provide generalist social work services across a variety of programs including Adult Services, Children’s Services and Energy Programs.
This position will be responsible for taking Child and Adult Protective Services reports of alleged abuse, neglect and dependency as back up when needed.
This position will also take and process Crisis Intervention Assistance Applications for persons experiencing difficulty with their heating/cooling.
This position is required to be on-call one week each month or more often as vacancies, and/or absences dictate to respond to after hours protective services reports or other emergencies. This position is also mandatory to work in emergency shelters in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
Computer proficiency is required. A valid North Carolina driver’s license and a vehicle for use at work is also required. Some situations may require employee to work overtime hours. Work schedule is normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or directly related experience, or Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university, including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and one year directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience. (Directly related experience is defined as Human Services experience in the area of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning).
