The Camden County Public Library allows the use of the community meeting room for civic, educational, philanthropic and approved recreational purposes.  The community meeting room use is permitted to non-profit groups regardless of their beliefs or affiliations.  Use of the community meeting room for library purposes takes precedence over other uses.  The community meeting room shall not be used for commercial purposes, for the solicitation of business, or for profit.  Granting permission for use of the community meeting room does not imply the library endorsement of the aims, policies or activities of any group.

Rules for use:

  1. The community meeting room is not available for private functions such as parties, receptions, baby showers, family gatherings, etc.
  2. The community meeting room is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Library programs take precedence over all other use.  Organizations other than library-related shall not exceed 12 meetings during each calendar year.
  3. To reserve the room, all events and meetings shall be free of charge and open to the general public.  Attendance cannot be limited only to an organization's members or specific individuals.  Employee groups or commercial firms will be interpreted as educational groups provided management is not using the meeting as a sales or promotion-type meeting.
  4. The library address or telephone number may not be used as the contact address for an individual or group using the community/meeting room.  The use of the community room by a non-library group shall not be publicized in such a way as to imply sponsorship of the group's activities.
  5. There are 9 tables and 34 chairs available for meeting room use only. Groups using the community meeting room may arrange tables and chairs as they wish.  Library staff is unable to assist in setting up the meeting room.  Groups shall return the rooms to its original condition at the conclusion of a meeting.
  6. Users of the room are responsible for setting up and operating their own equipment.
  7. Smoking is prohibited.  No alcoholic beverages may be served.  Light refreshments are permitted, provided the group cleans up.  No food is to be left on the premises.
  8. Organizations must take reasonable precautions to avoid damage to equipment, furnishings and other library property.  If damage occurs, please alert library staff as soon as possible.
  9. Events and meetings held in the community room may not disrupt the general service of the library.  Noise and conduct are expected to be kept at a level that will not disrupt other library users.
  10. For cancellations and reservations changes, please call the library at (252) 331-2543.  A 48-hour notice is preferred.
  11. If a group's meeting will proceed after the library's operating hours, a member of the group must informed a library staff member in advance, so appropriate arrangements can be made. All groups must be out of the community room by 9:45 p.m.
