The Public Hearings on the agenda for the February 5, 2024 meeting of the Board of Commissioners are cancelled due to a formal request by the applicant to withdraw his requests.  

 

 

Pursuant to Article 151.2.2.6 of the Camden County Unified Development Ordinance, the Camden County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 7 PM or soon thereafter as the agenda will allow.  The meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Camden Public Library located at 118 NC Hwy 343 N.  On the agenda for consideration is the following: Ordinance 2023-02-01 (UDO 2023-10-085), a Zoning Map Amendment (rezoning) application; Ordinance 2023-02-02 (UDO 2023-10-84) a Text Amendment application; and Ordinance 2023-02-03 (UDO 2023-10-086), a Special Use Permit application from Brian Smith and Lindsey M. LaFlamme.  The first application request is to rezone a parcel zoned as Rural Residential and Neighborhood Residential Zoning Districts to Rural Residential Zoning District only.  The parcel identified by parcel ID number 02-8934-02-56-8337-0000 is located on the north west corner of Upton Road and Seymour Drive in the Courthouse Township and Courthouse Core Village.  The second Text Amendment application is to amend the Camden County Unified Development Ordinance to include language for the accessory use of a Sawmill in Rural Residential Zoning District with a Special Use Permit.  The third application is a request for Special Use Permit for the accessory use of a Sawmill.  The public is invited to attend and make comments to the board. After the public hearing any changes may be made to the application.

On the agenda for consideration is Ordinance 2023-10-01, North River Crossing Phase 3 Major Subdivision Preliminary Plat Application (UDO 2023-03-030) from Seaboard Development Alliance LLC. The Preliminary Plan for the North River Crossing Phase 3 Major Subdivision proposes 15 single-family detached lots located off of Ditch Bank Road on a parcel consisting of 20.15 acres located in Shiloh Township.

The public is invited to attend and make comments to the board. After the public hearing any changes may be made to the application.

Pursuant to NCGS 159-12(b), the Camden County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as practical, in the boardroom of the Camden Public Library located at 118 NC Hwy 343 North in Camden, NC for the purpose of receiving public input regarding the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Proposed Budget and 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program, which has been submitted to the Board of Commissioners and filed with the clerk. A copy of the FY 23-24 Proposed Budget is kept on file for public inspection in the clerk’s office located at 330 East Highway 158 in Camden, NC.

The purpose of this Text Amendment Ordinance is for clarification of the language in the Camden County Code of Ordinances of Camden County, NC.  The meeting will be livestreamed to the county website and a copy of the plans and supporting documentation are available at the Camden County Planning Office or from the Camden County Website (camdencountync.gov) on the home page.  The public is invited to attend and make comments to the board. After the public hearing any changes may be made to the application.

Notice of Public Hearing to Approve Sale of Camden County Property by Private Negotiation Pursuant to Economic Development Law

The Camden County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practical, on May 1, 2023, in the Boardroom of the Camden Public Library to receive public input on the conveyance of a fee simple interest in real property from the County of Camden (The County) to D. T. Read Steel Co., Inc. (The Company) consisting of six point seven two (6.72) acres more or less situate within the Camden Commerce Park, Camden, North Carolina, to exclude any wetlands. The value of the real property to be conveyed is thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per acre.  The proposed consideration will be thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per acre.  The Company contemplates moving its corporate headquarters with the creation of 6-8 administrative full-time jobs and 75-150 seasonal jobs within an average annual payroll of $10 million. Jobs shall be maintained for at least ten (10) years.  The Board of Commissioners intends to approve this conveyance.  This Notice and the contemplated public hearing is in accord with N.C. General Statute 158-7.1 and N.C. General Statute 168-20.1.
