POSITION:                            SOCIAL WORKER I/II (depending on experience)

GRADE:                                 Grade 9 Step 1

PROGRAMS:                          Work First/Energy Programs/Adult Protective Services/Children’s Services (On Call & Backup)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is an entry-level social work position. Primary responsibilities will be to provide generalist social work services across a variety of programs, including Work First, Adult Services, Children’s Services, and the Energy Programs.

This position will be responsible for taking Child and Adult Protective Services reports of alleged abuse, neglect, and dependency as a backup when needed.  

This position will also take and process Crisis Intervention Assistance and Low-Income Energy Assistance Applications for persons experiencing difficulty with their heating/cooling and other related crisis events. 

This position is required to be on-call at least one week each month or more often as vacancies and/or absences dictate to respond to after-hours protective services reports or other emergencies. This position also includes mandatory work as needed in emergency shelters in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

Computer proficiency is required. A valid North Carolina driver’s license and a vehicle for use at work are also required. Some situations may require the employee to work overtime hours.  The work schedule is normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or directly related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university, including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and one year directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience. (Directly related experience is defined as Human Services experience in the area of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy, and treatment planning).
