Camden County Public Library Offers numerous services to Camden County residents. As always, our friendly and professional staff is always happy to help you find the right book, item, or information using our in-house collection and online resources that best suits your needs.

Our Library Collection

The library collection includes new bestsellers, new books for children, tweens and teens, as well as new nonfiction books and DVDs for all ages.

Library Cards

You will a need library card to check out books and items and use the public computers.  FREE library cards are issued to any resident in one of the four EARL counties with a photo ID.  Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian with a photo ID to sign as the responsible party.  Your library card is a contract stating you are responsible for the care and return of the materials you borrow.

Visitors (Non-residents; non-property owners), there is a $15 fee to obtain a library card. Members of the military will receive a free library card. County employees who live outside the EARL service area will receive a free library card. The employee must show proof of identification in forms of county ID card or pay stub.

Loan periods

All books and DVDs can be checked out for 3 weeks.  Books and other Items can be renewed twice - In person, by phone or online - unless a request has been placed by another patron.  A 5-day grace period is allowed after the due date in which to return books and items.  After the 5-day grace period, the fine charged is .10 per day from the original due date.

Technology Access and Services

Our library provides computer, internet and wireless access for use by the public, free of charge. We have a printer, copier, scanning, and fax services, all are available for a small fee. Black & White prints and copies are 10 cents per page. Color prints and copies are 25 cents per page.

eBooks

The East Albemarle Regional Library is pleased to present eBooks from the 3M Cloud Library for you to borrow.  You will need to install the 3M Cloud Library software on your computer or the 3M Cloud Library app on your iPad or iPhone, android-based tablet or phone, or Nook in order to check out and read eBooks.  You will need your 14-digit library card barcode number and your library card PIN number.  For more information, please call or come to the library and we will be glad to help.

Online Databases

Online databases from NC LIVE, North Carolina's Online Library, are especially useful for students of all ages, including students attending school online.  The library provides online access to articles (many full-text) from newspapers, magazines, journals and encyclopedias using authoritative, searchable databases.  Useful website links and electronic books are also available.  The databases may be used in the library or remotely from any work, school, or home computer with Internet access using your library card number.

Intra-Library Loan

Can't find the book you are looking for?  As a member of the East Albemarle Regional Library System which serves Camden, Dare, Currituck and Pasquotank Counties, you can request books and other items from any of the other 8 EARL libraries and receive them within a few days.  Still can't locate what you are looking for?  Ask about our Interlibrary Loan service.  We will search the entire country for you.

Programming

Book-A-Librarian

This service is personalized one-on-one assistance for our patrons. If you need help for the following:

  • Navigating the internet.
  • Using your mobile devices such as iPad, Android tablet, or smartphones.
  • Learn Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint or other computer software.
  • Finding resources for your school or college projects.

Community Meeting Room

Our Community Meeting Room is an important feature of today's public libraries and Camden County Public Library is no exception.  Call to schedule our Community Room for your club, group, school, organization, or business.  The room is free of charge.
