SHIIP County of the Year Winner Announced

RALEIGH - SHIIP, the Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program, congratulates the winners of four statewide awards for their outstanding work in providing free, unbiased counseling about Medicare and other health insurance issues to seniors in North Carolina. SHIIP County of the Year was given to Jasmine Wilson, Senior Center Director, and her volunteer. They have initiated participation in a community events for 72 churches and have done outreach via Senior Games, Home Delivered Meals and congregate meal sites reaching more than 22,800 people in Camden County.

Round Up for Seniors

The Camden County Commissioners deemed the week of August 14th - 21st as Senior Citizen Week. Please join us at the listed local restaurants and support your Senior Center by eating locally. All donations are welcomed and appreciated.

  • Tuesday August 14th - Itza Boutza Pizza (meals rounded to nearest dollar)
  • Wednesday August 15th - Belcross Bake Shoppe (Will donate a portion of that day's sales)
  • Thursday August 16th - Topside Catering and Deli (Donation Jar available)
  • Tuesday August 21st - Hungry Panda (meals rounded to nearest dollar)

The Camden County Senior Center offers free exercise classes, arts, and crafts, day trips, incontinence supplies, durable medical equipment, medical transportation and Medicare counseling.

Confused about Medicare?!? Turning 65 soon?

Join Jasmine Wilson, Camden County Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) Coordinator at the Camden County Public Library and allow her to break down the different parts of Medicare for you.

She will be available from 9:00 am - 12:30 on the following dates:

  • Sept. 28, 2018
  • Oct. 29, 2018 *
  • Nov. 26, 2018 *
