  • Community Meeting-Hazard Mitigation Assistance

    A Community Meeting will be held in Camden County for flood affected homeowners that may be interested in mitigation measures that will permanently reduce or eliminate future damages and losses to their homes from natural hazards.   NC Emergency Management will present information on the Unified Hazard Mitigation Assistance Programs which provides grant funds to “buyout”, elevate, or demolish and rebuild homes for eligible homeowners. 

    Camden County Meeting will be February 16th at 6:30 pm at the South Mills Volunteer Fire Dept., 127 Keeter Barn Rd., South Mills, NC.

  • Dismal Day & 5K Fun Run/Walk

    Join the Dismal Swamp State Park for the 5th annual Dismal Day! Festivities will run from 10 am-2 pm and include craft vendors, food, music, cultural exhibits, live wolves, pontoon boat rides on the historic Dismal Swamp Canal, wagon rides, scavenger hunt, and much more!
     
    A 5K Fun Run/Walk will start at 9 am. Registration for the 5K will be at 8:30 am. Call today to pre-register. Free t-shirt to first 100 participants.
     
    Do not miss this annual family festival celebrating history and nature! Free and open to the public.

  • Camden P&R and Senior Center Trunk or Treat

    Camden County Parks & Recreation and Senior Center Presents...

    Trunk or Treat

    A safe and fun alternative to Halloween!

    This event is FREE and for children of all ages; dressed in their Halloween costume.

    This will take place at the Camden Senior Center Parking Lot (Behind the Courthouse); 117 North NC HWY 343.

    Car Trunks will be decorated with various themes or stories and filled with lots of candy and other treats! Please come join us for an evening full of fun!

    Register for the 2017 Youth Basketball Season! Convenience Nights are as follows:

    Wednesday, November 1st, 5pm - 8pm and Thursday, November 2nd, 5pm - 8pm.

    Ages: Boys 5-16 and Girls: 5 -13.

  • Veteran's Day Recognition Ceremony

    Honoring all those who have served. 2017 Veterans' Day Recognition Ceremony will take place on the Camden County Historic Courthouse Lawn. All Veterans, students, and the community are invited to join in a tribute to Veterans and Military Service Members.

  • Camden County Heritage Museum & Jail Closed

    The Camden County Heritage Museum and Historic Jail will be closed the following dates:

    • Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th for Thanksgiving
    • Friday, December 22nd and Saturday, December 23rd for Christmas

  • South Mills Christmas Parade

    Bring your families to the South Mills Christmas Parade on Main Street, Downtown South Mills. Santa will be at the Ruritan Building immediately following the parade for photos with the kids.
