Area residents will get a chance to learn more about the N.C. Department of Transportation’s draft 10-Year transportation plan for northeastern North Carolina at a week-long open house in Edenton next week. The list includes seven new highway projects for Division 1, which covers Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington counties. A list of the projects in the draft plan and additional information is available on the NCDOT website. In Division 1, the public comment period will be during normal business hours from March 4-8. People can provide comments at the Division 1 office, 113 Airport Drive, Suite 100, in Edenton.

The sessions will serve as opportunities for interested residents to review maps and handouts about the projects, ask questions of local NCDOT staff, and submit comments. Those who can’t attend the public comment sessions can submit comments online through April 15. The draft plan will be considered for final approval by the state Board of Transportation this summer.
