The letter of Final Determination (LFD) is a letter sent to a community stating that a new or updated Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) will become effective on a certain date, and that the community is required to adopt an ordinance by that date to remain eligible for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Camden County received the LFD from FEMA on June 28, 2018.  The preliminary flood maps will become effective for insurance purposes on December 21, 2018.  The County is currently in the six month adoption and compliance period.  There will be a public hearing scheduled by the Board of Commissioners during this period to adopt the updated FIRM and supporting ordinance language.

If you have questions regarding the preliminary flood maps or the adoption process, please contact David Parks (252) 338-1919 ext 232 in the Camden County Planning Office.
